學校 渣打香港英語演講比賽 EPS 2016 - Olivia Bray – 2nd runner up (Senior Division)
EPS 2016 - Olivia Bray – 2nd runner up (Senior Division)
播放日期: 2017-03-30 19:00
The Grand Final of The HKFYG Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest 2016.

Allow us to proudly present to you: Olivia BRAY, the 2nd runner up of the Senior Division of the contest!

Her topic is: “Corruption in Hong Kong: The Good, The Bad and Why We Care”. Along with four other finalists in the Senior Division, she will be discussing the severity of corruption in Hong Kong and the means to turn the tides and ensure the anti-corruption efforts of Hong Kong is still some of the best in the world.

Please enjoy the show – and don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe for more of our videos!

Guiding Question for the Senior Division of the Grand Final of the contest:

The 2016 Index of Economic Freedom once again ranked Hong Kong as the world’s freest economy for the 22nd year, based on the measurement of ten components, including business, trade and financial freedom. However, the authors of the Index expressed their concern about one factor, and that was freedom from corruption, citing that Hong Kong’s score on a scale of zero to 100 has declined from 84 to 74 over the past four years. While this is still well above the global average, do you think this is a cause of concern?

Do you believe that Hong Kong is turning a blind eye to corruption by becoming complacent and how would you ensure that the city’s anti-corruption efforts continue to be some of the best in the world?

渣打香港英語演講比賽節目簡介
English is an international language, and fluency in it is one of the keys to success in the world today. Young people who strive to compete and excel in the global arena must learn how to communicate in English with confidence. As their fluency improves, opportunities will also widen. With an aim to foster self confidence in English public speaking among the young people of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) is organising "The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest". The two objectives of the contest are to enhance the public speaking skills of the new generation, and to foster and build the self-confidence of participating individuals.

The Grand Final of The HKFYG Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest 2016. Allow us to proudly present to you: TSANG Hing Lun Alexander, the Champion of the Junior Division of the contest! His topic is: “Food: Beyond the Yes and No”. Along with four other finalists in the Junior Division, he will be investigating the moral rightness of putting warning labels on processed meat as they were done on cigarettes. Please enjoy the show – and don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe for more of our videos! Guiding Question for the Junior Division of the Grand Final of the contest: The World Health Organization (WHO) says processed meat (such as bacon, sausages and hot dogs) can cause cancer. This puts processed meats in the same category of other cancer risks, like tobacco and asbestos.  Even though the International Agency for Research on Cancer says that this does not mean that processed meats are equally dangerous, the risk of cancer is still believed to increase with the amount of meat consumed. Should it be the government’s responsibility to have warning labels on meat products like those on cigarettes? Should public health transcend the freedom of choice, especially in food products?
